30mm Agate Grinding Ball

Maximize the efficiency and purity of your sample preparation with our 30mm Agate Grinding Balls. Designed for use in Fritsch Planetary Mills, these high-quality grinding media are essential for achieving precise particle size reduction in a wide range of materials.

Key Features & Applications:

  • Superior Material: Crafted from natural agate, these grinding balls offer exceptional hardness and abrasion resistance. Agate is chemically inert and non-metallic, making it ideal for processing samples where even trace metal contamination must be strictly avoided. This includes applications in geology, mineralogy, ceramics, glass, pigments, pharmaceuticals, and environmental analysis.
  • Optimized Grinding: Grinding balls impart kinetic energy through impact and friction within the grinding bowl. The 30mm size is versatile, providing a balance between impact force and surface area, suitable for a variety of sample types.
  • Particle Size Control: The final particle size is directly influenced by the grinding ball dimensions and quantity. Generally, larger balls facilitate coarser grinding, while smaller balls lead to a finer product. Using more balls can reduce grinding times and achieve finer distributions, up to an optimal loading point.
  • Contamination Prevention: To ensure the integrity of your sample, it is crucial to use grinding balls and bowls made of a material harder than your sample. Agate provides a non-contaminating solution for many materials. When processing exceptionally hard samples, consider alternative materials like tungsten carbide or zirconium oxide, always being mindful of potential cross-contamination when mixing materials.
  • Loading Guidelines: For effective grinding action, ensure that the grinding bowl is filled with balls and sample to no more than two-thirds of its total volume, leaving one-third free space for optimal movement and impact. It is not recommended to mix grinding balls of different sizes within the same bowl during a single grinding run.

Compatibility & Ordering:

This 30mm Agate grinding ball is sold individually and is compatible with our 500ml and 250ml Classic Grinding Bowls or Premium Grinding Bowls, which are purchased separately. For smaller grinding balls (3mm diameter and under), they are typically sold in packs of 100 pieces.
