The Multi-Stage Sludge & Sediment Sampling Kit includes everything you need to collect sediment and sludge samples up to 4 feet in length. The kit features a 12" soil core sampler base and three extension sections, allowing you to customize the sampler length to 12", 24", 36", or 48". It also comes with three 4' stainless steel extensions, enabling deployment through up to 12 feet of water before reaching the sediment. Additionally, the kit includes a disposable plastic core catcher and a stainless steel multi-stage flap valve cap designed to improve recovery of saturated materials.

When deploying the sampler, the check valve flap on the top cap opens to release excess air and water through four machined holes, ensuring smooth operation. As the sampler reaches the sediment, saturated materials pass through the plastic core catcher and into the plastic liner within the sampler body. The venting action of the stainless steel flap valve cap prevents pressure buildup, allowing the material to flow into the liner easily.

During retrieval, the plastic core catcher closes under the weight of the sediment to prevent the sample from escaping. Simultaneously, the check valve flap seals the holes in the top cap, creating suction that helps retain the collected sample within the sampler body.
