1.5mm Tungsten Carbide Grinding Ball (100 Pieces)
Grinding Balls are essential tools for use with Fritsch Planetary Mills, designed to deliver precise and effective grinding results. These balls are placed into the grinding bowls along with the sample, playing a key role in determining the final particle size after milling. Smaller grinding balls produce finer particle sizes, while larger balls result in coarser materials. Mixing balls of different sizes in the same bowl is not recommended, as this can reduce grinding efficiency and consistency.
Optimizing Grinding Results
The size and quantity of grinding balls required for specific applications depend on the sample and the desired final particle size, making user trials an effective way to determine the best setup. Generally, using more grinding balls reduces milling times and results in finer particle size distributions. However, it is critical not to overfill the bowl. The bowl should only be filled to two-thirds of its volume with balls and sample material, leaving one-third of the space free for optimal grinding action.
Material Selection for Grinding Efficiency
For maximum grinding performance, it’s crucial to select grinding balls and bowls made from materials harder than the sample. For particularly hard samples, tungsten carbide balls in steel bowls or zirconium oxide balls in corundum bowls are recommended. This combination enhances grinding efficiency while minimizing wear. However, users should be mindful of potential cross-contamination when using materials with differing compositions.
Product Details:
- Balls with a diameter of 3mm or smaller are sold in sets of 100 pieces. Larger grinding balls are sold individually.
- Grinding balls must be used with Classic Grinding Bowls or Premium Grinding Bowls, which are sold separately.
- Recommended Bowl Size Compatibility: 500ml, 250ml, 80ml.
Applications:
Tungsten carbide grinding balls are ideal for use in industries such as materials science, geology, chemistry, and metallurgy. They are particularly effective for processing hard, brittle, or abrasive samples, making them suitable for applications like sample preparation, nanomaterial production, and metal alloy grinding.
