S-Type Load Cells are designed to measure both tension and compression forces, making them ideal for geotechnical and construction materials testing. Available in capacities from 500 to 20,000lbf (2.2 to 89kN), these load cells come with a four-wire cable for outputting voltage signals compatible with two- or four-channel data readout units (sold separately). Threaded mounting holes are located on both the top and bottom for easy installation.

• In compression tests like unconfined compression or CBR/LBR, load cells are positioned between the load frame and test apparatus or piston.
• For direct-shear tests requiring both compression and tension measurement, they are mounted between the shear box and a fixed point on the frame.
• For tests like triaxial shear, Marshall stability, indirect tensile, Lottman, SCB, or similar, a uniform point of contact is essential between the cell and testing setup.
