The Oakfield Apparatus Soil Compaction Tester is specially designed for determining surface compaction or hard pan layers. This one-piece unit has an 8” welded handle and rod that is 1/2" in diameter. There are graduated depth markings at 6", 9", 12", so you know how far down the hard layers go. It comes equipped with a replaceable, screw-on Soil Compaction Tip with sharp arrow design to dig deep.
It's incredibly easy to use, simply push the tester into the ground and make note of how far down the layers go. This convenient, practical tool will help you examine potential soil structure destruction and find problem areas that can inhibit root growth and reduce yields.
