Scratch-A-Track Motion Monitor - Easily Track Cracks and Surface Movements
The Scratch-A-Track Crack Monitor Finger Assembly is an innovative tool designed to provide a precise, continuous graphic record of relative movement between adjacent surfaces. This versatile device can be mounted over cracks, joints, or voids to track various types of movement, including thermal expansion, structural settlement, load-induced deflections, or any other positional changes. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to install, and its durable, climate-resistant materials ensure reliable performance in a range of environments. Plus, it’s an affordable solution for monitoring structural changes over time.
Key Features:
- Accurate Movement Tracking: Captures even the smallest positional changes with a clear, permanent record.
- Durable and Reusable: The nickel-coated spring steel Finger Assembly and stainless steel Scriber are built to last and can be reused across multiple projects.
- Climate Resistant: Designed to perform in various environmental conditions without compromising accuracy.
- Compact and Lightweight: Measuring just 1 x 5.5 x 1 inches (WxDxH), the unit is easy to install and unobtrusive.
- Affordable Solution: Cost-effective for both small-scale and large-scale monitoring needs.
How It Works:
- Recording Pad Installation: The single-use plastic Recording Pad has a target area coated with a white film for clear markings. It also includes blanks for recording key data such as date, location, and other details. The Pad is bonded to one surface using superglue or epoxy (not included with the assembly).
- Finger Assembly Setup: The nickel-coated spring steel Finger Assembly is attached to the opposing surface. Using the thumb screw, the stainless steel Scriber is adjusted to glide over the Recording Pad. As movement occurs, the Scriber leaves a thin, well-defined black scratch, permanently recording the relative motion.
- Reusable Components: While the Recording Pads are single-use, the Finger Assembly and Scriber are reusable, making this system a long-term, cost-effective solution.
Accessories:
- Scratch-A-Track Monitor Recording Pads: These are required to capture movement data. Pads are purchased separately and are not included in the Finger Assembly.
Applications:
The Scratch-A-Track Crack Monitor is ideal for a variety of structural monitoring scenarios, including:
- Detecting crack propagation in buildings or concrete structures.
- Measuring settlement or shifting in foundations.
- Monitoring load-induced deflections in bridges or large-scale infrastructure.
- Observing thermal expansion or contraction in materials.
Whether you’re performing structural inspections, monitoring construction sites, or conducting research, the Scratch-A-Track Monitor provides the precision and reliability you need.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 1 x 5.5 x 1 inches (WxDxH)
- Materials: Nickel-coated spring steel Finger Assembly, stainless steel Scriber, plastic single-use Recording Pad.
- Installation Requirements: Superglue or epoxy for bonding (not included).
Why Choose Scratch-A-Track?
With its robust design, ease of use, and precise tracking capabilities, the Scratch-A-Track Crack Monitor Finger Assembly is the go-to solution for structural engineers, researchers, and contractors needing accurate monitoring of surface movements.
