Derails are emergency devices designed to stop railcars or locomotives and prevent unauthorized movement on the tracks. By lifting the car wheel flange off the rail, derails impede forward motion and enhance rail safety.

Compliance with OSHA, FRA, and DOT regulations mandates derail protection for all active rail sidings. Derails are critical in preventing accidents such as:

Permanently Installed Hinged Derails

Hinged derails provide a permanent solution for preventing unauthorized railcar movement on exposed rail tracks and wooden ties. The derail "shoe" swings on or off the rail and can be securely padlocked in either position. Each derail includes a blue flag and holder for manual operation.
