Pyromation High-Accuracy RTDs and Temperature Sensors: Precision Measurement for Demanding Environments
Featured Product: Pyromation 3-Wire RTD for HVAC & Thermostat Applications
When precise temperature measurement is critical, Pyromation Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) deliver unmatched accuracy, repeatability, and interchangeability. Essential for applications ranging from HVAC systems to industrial process control, our RTDs provide reliable data for optimal performance.
The Science Behind RTD Precision
Resistance Temperature Detectors (also known as resistance thermometers) operate on a fundamental principle: the electrical resistance of certain metallic elements changes predictably with temperature. Each RTD element is meticulously manufactured, either by winding a fine wire (wire-wound elements) or plating a thin film (thin-film elements) onto a ceramic or glass core, then sealing it within a protective capsule.
In operation, a small, controlled excitation current is passed through the RTD element. The resulting voltage, directly proportional to the element's resistance, is then measured and accurately converted into units of temperature. While standard RTD elements typically have a low initial resistance (e.g., 100 ohms at 0°C) and a small change in resistance per degree of temperature, Pyromation compensates for lead wire resistance using advanced three- or four-wire bridge configurations integrated into our measuring devices. This meticulous design ensures the highest possible accuracy even over long lead lengths.
Robust Performance in Extreme Conditions
Pyromation RTDs are engineered for durability and versatility. By selecting the appropriate elements and robust protective sheathing, our RTDs can confidently operate across an expansive temperature range from -200°C to 600°C (-328°F to 1112°F). This makes them ideal for a wide array of demanding environments.
