Proceq GS8000 Pro Subsurface Mapping Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

Proceq’s GS8000 Mapping GPR units are designed for large-scale subsurface applications, including underground utility mapping, geophysical surveys, infrastructure inspections, and archaeological or forensic studies. These units, equipped with a robust pushcart, excel in scanning pavements, bridge decks, slabs, and off-road terrains when using the Pro model.

With Stepped Frequency Continuous Wave (SFCW) technology, the GS8000 offers an ultra-wide 0.2–3.4GHz bandwidth, ensuring exceptional balance between signal penetration depth and object resolution without the limitations of single-frequency pulsed radar systems. Scanning speeds reach up to 50mph (80km/h), with a maximum penetration depth of 33ft (10m) and approximately 12ft (3.7m) under typical soil conditions. The system can detect metallic objects as small as 0.4in (10mm) at a depth of 12in (305mm). Specifications apply to units sold in North America.

An encrypted Wi-Fi connection links the GPR to an Apple iPad, creating a seamless platform for data collection, visualization, and sharing. The operating software leverages the iPad’s high-resolution display, post-processing capabilities, and collaboration tools, enabling users to upload scan data and reports to the cloud instantly. The recommended model is an iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular with 1TB storage and the latest iPadOS version.

The system is fully wireless and includes a collapsible, ergonomic pushcart that adapts to various terrains. The antenna transitions between ground-coupled and air-gap positioning with 1in (25.4mm) clearance. The GS8000 supports maximum straight-line scans of 9.3mi (15km) and grid scans up to 260x260ft (80x80m).

Power is supplied by eight rechargeable NiMH C-type batteries, designed for a full day of use. These batteries are flight-safe and hot-swappable, with an optional USB-PD-compatible power bank for added flexibility.

The Pro GPR model delivers detailed 2D and 3D color-enhanced subsurface mapping. With Apple’s ARKit™, users can overlay augmented reality (AR) visuals onto real-world views through the iPad. Scans produce real-time, easy-to-understand images that can be exported to CAD or GIS applications. The Pro model supports line scans, grid scans, and Free Path mapping, which generates real-time heatmaps for specific depths as you scan.

An integrated multiband GNSS antenna ensures precise geolocation by receiving signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou satellites. With internet connectivity, State Space Representation (SSR) augmentation refines geolocation accuracy to 0.5–2in (1–5cm). Users can add tags, notes, photos, and voice observations directly to the data during scans.

The Pro GPR package includes the Pro pushcart with integrated GPR sensor, GNSS rover, carbon fiber pole, tripod, iPad holder with sunshade, power supply, cables, Wi-Fi module, off-road wheels, tools, accessories, a hard-shell transport case, and documentation. It also includes a five-year renewable subscription to the Pro software. An additional battery pack is available for purchase separately.
