Derails are essential emergency devices designed to stop railcars or locomotives and prevent unauthorized movement. By lifting the wheel flange off the rail, derails stop forward motion and ensure safety.

To comply with OSHA, FRA, and DOT regulations, derail protection is required for all active rail sidings.

Permanently Installed Hinged Derails

 For ongoing derail protection, Hinged Derails are ideal for exposed rail tracks and wooden ties. The derail “shoe” swings on or off the rail and can be padlocked in place. Each unit includes a blue flag and holder for manual operation.
