Bench and floor model Jar Mills are available with capacities for one to six jars. The rollers adjust easily to accommodate jars ranging from 2–9in (51–229mm) in diameter. These mills are designed for wet or dry grinding, mixing, and blending of materials like ores, chemicals, ceramics, and glass. Special 2in (50.8mm) neoprene rollers keep jars securely centered during operation. Adjustable speed settings range from 0–300rpm. Featuring welded steel frames, roller chain drives, and sealed ball bearings, these mills are built for long-term durability. They operate on 115V, 50/60Hz power. Grinding jars and media must be ordered separately.

Grinding Jars

Choose between Roalox porcelain or premium High Alumina ceramic jars. Roalox offers four times the wear resistance of standard porcelain, while High Alumina ceramic provides enhanced durability, minimal silica contamination, and a polyurethane-coated body for improved resistance to breakage. Both jar types feature wide mouths for quick loading and cleaning, as well as neoprene gasketed lids with a secure locking mechanism. Jar capacities range from 0.3–5.6L with diameters of 3.4–9.5in (86–241mm). Specimen capacity is approximately 25% of the jar’s total volume, with grinding media typically occupying 50% of the jar’s volume.

Grinding Media

The grinding media are cylindrical, with lengths equal to their diameters for optimal surface area coverage. Burundum alumina media, with a specific gravity of 3.42, is ideal for most milling needs and is available in 10lb (5kg) packages. For faster milling with reduced wear, premium high-density Zirconia media (specific gravity 5.55) mills twice as fast as alumina. Zirconia media is sold in 5lb (2kg) packages.

Rollers

Rollers are 24 inches long and provide stable operation for jars during milling.
