Fritsch PULVERISETTE 23 Vibratory Micro Mill
The Fritsch PULVERISETTE 23 Vibratory Micro Mill is an essential laboratory instrument designed for fine grinding and homogenizing small sample volumes. Utilizing a high-frequency oscillating grinding bowl, it effectively processes samples using a mortar and a grinding ball. This makes it the ideal laboratory ball mill for a wide range of materials, including medium-hard, brittle, moist, or temperature-sensitive samples. It can handle samples either dry or in suspension and is also highly effective for homogenizing emulsions and pastes.
How It Works
The grinding process is both powerful and precise. The grinding ball first crushes larger particles through high-impact forces. Subsequently, it transitions to a tumbling motion, creating friction for finer grinding. The final fineness achievable is as small as 10µm, though this depends on the specific properties of the material being processed. The mill operates at 3,000–3,600 oscillations per minute with an adjustable amplitude of 1–3mm. This adjustability allows the impact force of the grinding ball to be perfectly tailored to each sample, preventing sample destruction and ensuring optimal results. The maximum feed size is 5mm, and the sample capacity is up to 10mL.
Design and Features
Engineered for efficiency and user comfort, the Fritsch Vibratory Micro Mill operates quietly and minimizes the transfer of vibrations to the lab bench. Its ergonomically positioned, splashproof IP65 membrane keyboard ensures easy and safe operation. The pulverizer head features a clear acrylic observation cover, allowing for visual monitoring of the grinding process. This cover also hermetically seals the mortar chamber, preventing the loss of dry samples and enabling wet milling without leaks.
Required Accessories
For operation, the Vibratory Micro Mill requires a Mortar and Grinding Balls, which must be purchased separately to suit your specific application needs.
- Mortars are available in agate, sintered corundum, zirconium oxide, hardened stainless steel, and hardened tungsten carbide.
- Grinding Balls (70mm) are available in matching materials: agate, sintered corundum, zirconium oxide, hardened stainless steel, and hardened tungsten carbide.
- A 50mm Agate Grinding Ball is also available for specific applications.
