Dial Gauge Extensometer, Compressometer, 6in – Accurate Testing for Concrete Strain and Modulus
Compressometer/Extensometers are like the Compressometer in that they measure average deformation and strain of concrete cylinders during compression testing to determine modulus of elasticity. But a third center yoke attaches to the specimen to measure horizontal extension. This allows for determination of modulus of elasticity and Poisson’s ratio. A second mechanical dial or digital indicator between yoke segments measures transverse deformation at the same time. Mechanical dial indicators measure specimen deformation. Models for 4in (102mm) or 6in (152mm) concrete cylinders are available. Yokes are aluminum, other parts are cadmium plated steel.

Compressometer & Extensometer for Concrete Testing
Compressometers and extensometers are essential instruments used in concrete cylinder compressive strength tests to measure strain and deformation accurately. They help engineers evaluate the quality, strength, and durability of concrete.
A compressometer measures axial deformation of a concrete cylinder during loading, providing data on concrete strain. An extensometer measures deformation perpendicular to the applied load, capturing accurate extension values. When used together, they provide a complete stress–strain relationship, including elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio.
These measurements are critical for concrete mix design evaluation, structural monitoring, and safe construction planning.
The Compressometer/Extensometer, Mechanical Dial Indicator, 6×12 in meets ASTM C469/C469M standards and is built with lightweight aluminum yokes and durable steel components for long-term reliability. It is an essential tool for laboratories performing concrete strength and material testing.
Product Description
Compressometer/Extensometer, Mechanical Dial Indicator, 6x12in is a precision instrument to measure mechanical properties of concrete specimens. This instrument combines the function of a compressometer and an extensometer, engineers can measure average deformation and strain of concrete cylinders during compression testing. With mechanical dial indicator it measures specimen deformation and another mechanical dial or digital indicator between yoke segments measures transverse deformation simultaneously. This dual measurement capability gives full data on both axial and transverse deformations and gives valuable information on concrete behavior under load.
