A detachable brass base plate is also available for added usability and performance in testing applications. Steel thumb screws hold halves together. Large upper surface strike off area makes this a popular choice. Optional accessories include an all stainless steel top or a brass cover plate to pour molten sulfur capping compounds down through taper holes for compressive strength testing.
