Precision Cuvettes for 3nh NH Series Spectrophotometers: A Comprehensive Guide

Ensure accurate and reliable color measurements with our specialized colorimetric cuvettes, meticulously designed for seamless integration with 3nh TS, YS, NH, and NS series Spectrophotometers. These high-quality cuvettes are essential for precise light transmission and absorption readings, forming a critical component of your analytical workflow.

Our range includes three distinct cuvette types, each optimized for specific instrument series and measurement requirements, and designed to work efficiently with the Universal Test Component:

  • Rectangular Cuvette:

    • Compatibility: Specifically engineered for TS and YS series instruments.
    • Optical Path: Features a standard 10mm optical path, ideal for a wide range of sample concentrations and typical absorbance measurements.
    • Dimensions: With external dimensions of 55mm (L) x 14mm (W) x 54mm (H) and a single-sided wall thickness of 2mm, these cuvettes ensure consistent positioning and light path integrity.
    • Application: Excellent for routine analysis where sample volume and concentration are within standard limits.
  • Square Cuvette:

    • Compatibility: Tailored for the NH series spectrophotometers.
    • Optical Path: Boasts a longer 50mm optical path, which significantly enhances sensitivity for analyzing very dilute samples or samples with low absorbance, allowing for more accurate detection of subtle color differences.
    • Dimensions: External dimensions are 54mm (L) x 54mm (W) x 55mm (H), with a single-sided wall thickness of 2mm, providing stability and robust performance.
    • Application: Recommended for applications requiring higher sensitivity or when working with samples that exhibit weak absorbance.
  • Circular Colorimetric Cuvette:

    • Compatibility: Exclusively designed for NS series instruments.
    • Form Factor: Features a unique circular design, available in 36mm and 60mm diameters. This design is often utilized in specific measurement geometries or for larger sample volumes.
    • Application: Suited for particular types of colorimetric analysis or for instruments where a circular sample holder is integrated, offering flexibility for various sample presentations.

Essential Precautions for Optimal Cuvette Performance and Longevity:

To maintain the accuracy of your measurements and extend the lifespan of your cuvettes, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Careful Handling: Always hold cuvettes by their frosted or non-optical sides. Avoid touching the transparent optical surfaces with bare hands, as fingerprints can absorb or scatter light, leading to inaccurate readings. Handle and store cuvettes meticulously to prevent any scratches, chips, or surface discoloration.
  2. Chemical Compatibility: Do not store or leave solutions containing corrosive or reactive substances in the cuvette for extended periods. Certain chemicals can etch, cloud, or discolor the glass or quartz material, permanently compromising the cuvette's optical properties. Always rinse thoroughly after use.
  3. Temperature Management: Never place colorimetric cuvettes on a direct flame, electric stove, or in a drying oven for heating. Rapid temperature changes or excessive heat can cause thermal expansion, leading to structural damage, altering the optical path, or even shattering the cuvette. Allow cuvettes to air dry or use gentle drying methods.
  4. Prompt Cleaning: If contamination, residue, or cloudiness is observed inside the cuvette, clean it immediately. Use only specialized cuvette cleaning solutions, dilute acids (like 10% HCl), or high-purity solvents such as anhydrous ethanol or spectroscopy-grade methanol. For stubborn residues, an ultrasonic bath may be used with caution, ensuring the cleaning solution is compatible with the cuvette material.
  5. Surface Protection and Filling: Ensure the transparent optical surfaces of the cuvette do not come into contact with hard, abrasive, or dirty objects. When filling with solution, a volume that reaches approximately 2/3 of the cuvette's total height is typically sufficient to cover the light path without risking spillage. Should any residue or droplets remain on the optical surfaces, gently blot them with lint-free filter paper, then carefully wipe with specialized lens paper or optical-grade silk cloth – never use abrasive materials or cloths.
