The DVNext Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Rheometer is a state-of-the-art instrument designed for precise and routine measurement of absolute viscosity in small fluid samples. Its cone-and-plate geometry ensures the accuracy needed for comprehensive rheological data development.
How It Works
The rheometer operates as a high-precision torque meter, driven at specific rotational speeds. A calibrated beryllium-copper spring connects the rotating cone to the drive mechanism, measuring the resistance caused by the fluid sample between the cone and the stationary plate. This resistance generates torque, which directly corresponds to the fluid's shear stress. From this, viscosity can be calculated in centipoise (mPa·s) using pre-calculated charts or the cone’s geometric constants, rotational speed, and torque.
Aligning the cone and plate is straightforward, requiring no external tools or instruments. The sample cup, which holds 0.5 to 2.0 mL of fluid depending on the cone used, can be removed, filled, and remounted without affecting calibration. Its jacketed design supports temperature control through a circulating bath, ensuring precise measurements. The system features an accuracy of ±1.0% of the full-scale range and reproducibility of ±0.2%, operating within a temperature range of 0°C to 100°C.
The DVNext Rheometer includes one calibrated cone spindle, with additional spindles available for purchase and compatible with the same sample cup.
