ASTM/AASHTO Constant Head Permeameters are designed to determine the coefficient of permeability for granular soils using the constant head method. These permeameters are available in sizes ranging from 2.5–9.0in (63.5–228.6mm) in diameter, making them suitable for testing soils with various particle sizes. The clear acrylic sample chamber allows for easy observation during testing.

Each permeameter features two sidewall manometer ports covered with No.100 (150µm) stainless steel mesh to prevent soil particles from entering the manometer. A compression spring on the top cap applies 5–10lbs (2.3–4.5kgs) of force to the porous stone or perforated plate, ensuring consistent soil density throughout testing. The system includes tubing, anodized aluminum end caps with valves and ports for vacuum and water sources, and porous stones or plates, depending on the model. The 6.0 and 9.0in models include porous plates for both ends of the specimen, while smaller models come with porous stones.

A manometer is required for ASTM/AASHTO compliance and is sold separately. Choose between the Free-Standing Manometer or the Wall-Mounted Manometer.
