The Pro Series extensions are crafted from heavy-duty 1" diameter chrome molybdenum tubing and feature a safety orange powder-coated finish for enhanced rust resistance. The improved 10 lb. Pro Series slide hammer includes a reinforced 3/4" inner diameter slide bar, ensuring greater reliability and preventing bending during use. The stainless steel multi-stage flap valve cap is designed with a thicker (.800") collar to pair perfectly with the larger 3/4" threaded female connection of the slide hammer, providing increased durability.
This kit includes everything needed to collect sludge and sediment samples up to 4 feet long. The 12" soil core sampler base and three extension sections allow flexibility to assemble a sampler at lengths of 12", 24", 36", or 48". The kit also comes with three 4' stainless steel extensions, enabling deployment through up to 12 feet of water before reaching sediment layers. Additionally, a disposable plastic core catcher and a specialized stainless steel multi-stage flap valve cap improve recovery of saturated materials.
As the sampler is deployed, the check valve flap on the top cap opens to let excess air and water escape through four machined holes in the cap. This venting ensures smooth operation as air and water pass through the sampler. Once the sampler reaches sediment, the saturated material pushes through the plastic core catcher into the plastic liner within the sampler body as it is driven downward. The multi-stage flap valve cap prevents pressure buildup, allowing the sample to enter the liner seamlessly.
During retrieval, the plastic core catcher closes under the weight of the sediment, preventing material from escaping through the bottom. Simultaneously, the check valve flap seals the top cap holes, creating suction inside the sampler. This suction helps secure the collected sample within the sampler body.
