S-Type Load Cells are designed to measure both tension and compression forces, making them ideal for geotechnical and construction materials testing. They come in capacities ranging from 500 to 20,000 lbf (2.2 to 89 kN) and include a four-wire cable for outputting voltage signals to a two- or four-channel data readout (sold separately). These load cells feature threaded mounting holes on the top and bottom for versatile installation.
Applications:
- Compression Tests: Used in tests like unconfined compression or CBR/LBR, positioned between the load frame and test apparatus or penetration piston.
- Direct Shear: Measures both tension and compression by mounting between the shear box and a fixed point on the load frame.
- Other Tests: Suitable for triaxial shear, Marshall stability, indirect tensile, Lottman, SCB, and similar tests requiring a uniform contact point between load cell and testing fixtures.
