Concrete Phoenix Furnace System

Concrete Phoenix System

The Concrete Phoenix System provides fast and accurate water-to-cementitious material ratio (w/cm) measurements for fresh concrete, whether in the lab or on-site. As a critical predictor of concrete strength, workability, permeability, and durability, the w/cm ratio is often challenging to measure accurately, especially when unrecorded mix water is present.

Traditional methods using microwave furnaces are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and only accurate to ±0.3–0.5. The Phoenix Furnace revolutionizes this process by delivering w/cm measurements within 12–18 minutes, with an unmatched accuracy of ±0.01.

The state of Minnesota is considering adopting the method titled "Measuring the Water Content in Fresh Concrete by Rapid Evaporation" using the Phoenix System. This method involves consolidating fresh concrete into a 100in³ (1,642cm³) mold, weighing it for unit weight, transferring the sample to a furnace-safe pan, and heating it for approximately 15 minutes. Post-heating, the water loss is calculated using the Phoenix App, which automatically computes and stores w/cm results.

The Phoenix Furnace offers superior design, operation, and control. Its programmable controller ensures precise temperature regulation and timing, efficiently removing all water without affecting solid mass or aggregates. Adjustable hold times and temperature settings enhance flexibility during testing. The chamber's dimensions, thermal materials, and heating elements work together to achieve rapid and controlled heat-up, reducing thermal soak times and minimizing specimen damage.

Built for durability, the furnace features heavy-duty galvanized steel construction, a user-friendly guillotine-style door, and embedded ceramic fiber-insulated heating elements for damage prevention. Safety features include a power-cut switch when the door is open, thermocouple overheating protection, and an integrated exhaust fan for improved temperature uniformity.

The Concrete Phoenix System is a complete testing solution, including a smartphone preloaded with the Phoenix App, a sample mold, tamping rod, sample spatula, protective safety gear, and more. Additional accessories, such as extra sample pans and molds, are available separately to maximize efficiency.

The Phoenix Furnace is powered by a 240V, 50/60Hz, 15-amp, single-phase electrical supply and includes a NEMA L6-20P cord set.

Features:

  • Accurate w/cm measurements in 15 minutes
  • Ensures concrete mix consistency and quality
  • Improves productivity and concrete strength, slump, and durability before placement
  • Moisture content of aggregates determined in 5 minutes
  • Easy-to-use Phoenix App for guided testing and automatic calculations
